Big Sky Country Attractions

There’s a good reason Montana is called “Big Sky Country.” Wherever you turn, you’ll see a vast expanse of blue sky arching over snow-capped mountains, crystal clear rivers and pastures teeming with horses and cattle, as well as buffalo and elk. But there is so much more to see if you add a few days to your visit.

Known as “Montana’s Trailhead,” Billings blends culture and history with outdoor adventure and R&R, earning it the title “Best Town of 2016” according to Outside Magazine. There are several outstanding restaurants with four blocks of our hotel, and a hotel shuttle can take you to hiking and biking trails just two miles away.

Billings is just one hour away from the breathtaking “Beartooth Highway,” which Charles Kuralt described as “American’s most beautiful drive.” This spectacular drive crests at 10,947 feet as it leads to the north entrance of scenic Yellowstone National Park, which will be in the final stage of summer splendor at the time of our conference!

Billings is surrounded by unique historical sites, including Pompey’s Pillar, which contains the only remaining physical evidence of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the Little Bighorn Battlefield, where Montana’s Native Americans gave the U.S. Cavalry its greatest defeat.

Other nearby attractions include blue-ribbon trout fishing on the Big Horn River and the Buffalo Bill Center, one of the finest western museums in the world.

As long as you’re traveling all the way to Big Sky Country, we hope you’ll come a few days early or stay around a few days longer so you can see why many of us refer to our state as “the porch of heaven.”
