Seminar Overview

Ken Sande will begin his presentation by describing how leaders like Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan used emotional intelligence to change the course of our nation. He will also describe recent studies that indicate that unlike Lincoln and Reagan, most people who acquire greater and greater power lose their capacity for empathy (actually experience “brain damage”). Ken will then introduce us to the concept of relational wisdom (a biblical form of emotional intelligence) and explain how these principles can strengthen our capacity for empathy as well as our ability to build stronger relationships, to resolve conflict and to influence other people. Ken is the founder of Peacemaker Ministries and RW360. Trained as an engineer, lawyer and mediator, Ken has conciliated hundreds of family, business, church, and legal conflicts. He is the author of numerous articles and books, including The Peacemaker, which has sold over 500,000 copies in twenty languages. He is a Certified Emotional Intelligence Instructor and a Certified Relational Wisdom Conciliator, Coach, and Instructor, and has served as an Editorial Advisor for Christianity Today. He teaches internationally on relational wisdom, peacemaking, and Christian conciliation. His core “faith-based” training materials are clearly based on Scripture, but he has also developed “values-based” resources (without biblical references) that are being used around the world to strengthen relationships, promote teamwork, and reduce conflict in a wide variety of secular settings, including businesses, schools, hospitals, police departments and military bases, as well as state legislatures and on Capitol Hill. Ken will provide a downloadable document with links to several articles that will allow attendees to dig into all of these concepts more deeply.
