Relational Heroes

The videos listed below illustrate the life-changing impact of obeying Jesus’ command to love other people the same way he has loved us (John 13:34-35).

This kind of love is demonstrated by acting in a way that shows unselfish concern for the welfare of others, often at a personal cost or sacrifice. It implies a motivation to help others without expecting anything in return. Essentially, it’s the opposite of being selfish or self-centered.

People who act this way can become “relational heroes” by setting an example that other people are inspired to follow. As 1 Timothy 4:15 teaches, “Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress.”

You can easily use the videos listed below to inspire kind, compassionate and responsible behavior in your home, church, classroom or workplace. As you gather for a meal, start your day at school, or begin a staff meeting, you can show one of these four-minute videos and encourage your children, students or coworkers to briefly discuss a few of these types of questions: (1) What did you like about this video? (2) What emotions did you observe and how were they communicated? (3) What biblical principles or values did this story illustrate? (4) How did the main characters’ actions impact others? (5) When have you seen another person act this way, and how did it impact others? (6) How would our home, classroom or office be different if we all learned to act this way?
