During our December 3, 2024, Walking in Wisdom webinar, Kirk Cameron and Ken Sande explored ways that a Christian worldview can strengthen our ability to live lives that honor God and draw attention to the transforming power of Jesus and his gospel.
A worldview answers three primary questions: (1) Where did we come from and why are we here (creation)? (2) What has gone wrong with the world (fall)? and (3) What can we do about it (redemption)?
Our answers to these questions profoundly impact our lives. As Chuck Colson puts it, “Our choices are shaped by what we believe is real and true, right and wrong, good and beautiful. Our choices are shaped by our worldview.”
Although most Christians believe they are following a biblical worldview, many of us have unwittingly embraced elements of naturalism, humanism and postmodernism, which contribute to the conflicts and divisions in our churches, the breakdown of our families and our decreasing influence in American culture.
As Kirk and Ken explained, however, it’s never too late to develop a rigorous, worldview that is grounded solidly on God’s revealed truth, Holy Scripture, and is robust enough to help us stand firm in the face of life’s many challenges. Here are some practical ways that you can begin this process … and inspire others to do the same.
2 Ways to Engage People with Different Worldviews
When people with different worldviews interact, they often react by interpreting other’s motives, words and positions in the worst possible way, which builds walls, blocks understanding and prevents them from finding common ground. Here are a few ways to counteract this tendency.
- Apply the principles found in Charitable Judgments: An Antidote to Judging Others.
- Apply the principles described in Preserving Relationships in the Midst of Political Turmoil.
4 Ways to Strengthen Your Own Christian Worldview
- To see a concise summary of various worldviews, read Six Primary Worldviews.
- To learn more about a Christian worldview and contrast it with other worldviews, read The Christian Worldview by Steven Cowen.
- To evaluate your current personal worldview, complete Lesson 4 (Values Can Transform Your Relationships) from RW360’s Exploring Relational Wisdom course.
- To further clarify and strengthen your worldview, complete Lesson 6 (Follow a Trustworthy GPS) from the same course.
4 Ways to Inspire Others to Develop a Christian Worldview
A Christian worldview is grounded in the gospel of Christ. Therefore, a key step in helping others begin to develop a Chrisitan worldview is to introduce them to Jesus and his gospel. Here are a few ways to do this.
- Use the Transformed Pamphlet to strengthen your Christian witness and share the gospel with friends and coworkers (see Six Ways to Use the Transformed Pamphlet).
- Go through RW360’s free online course, Using Relational Wisdom for Witnessing.
- Lead an Exploring Relational Wisdom small group study in your workplace to start co-workers on the path of examining and changing their worldviews.
- Become a Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) Instructor and use RW360’s resources to spread the gospel and a Christian worldview in businesses, government offices, schools and other secular venues throughout your community.
