What do these people have in common?
- A 9-year-old boy hugging his father’s tombstone
- A detective who adopted two abused boys and then gained a wife
- A woman who forgave the man who killed her daughter
- A middle school quarterback who hit the brakes at the 1-yard line
- A single dad who adopted 5 siblings
- Five teenage cheerleaders who defected to the other team
- A whole town that learned sign-language
- A cab driver who offered his kidney to a grumpy passenger
- A 16-year-old girl who hijacked a sick farmer’s combine
- An innocent man who forgave the cop who sent him to prison
All these people modeled such remarkable expertise in relational wisdom (RW) that they were featured on national television.
They are just a few of the 180+ “relational wisdom experts” you can learn from every day for free simply by saving this “Relational Heroes” link on your phone or computer and watching one of these amazing four-minute video clips as part of your daily devotions.
Through these RW experts’ examples, you can strengthen your God-awareness, self-awareness and other-awareness, which can dramatically improve your ability to read facial expressions and body language, manage emotions, exercise empathy and compassion and serve others in ways that can change the course of their lives.
As one of these relational heroes said, “I went from being someone who cared mostly about myself and my friends to caring about everyone and wanting to make everyone’s day and everyone’s life.”
You can spread this life-altering attitude by watching and discussing these videos with your family over a meal, students in your classroom or co-workers at a staff meeting. You could share especially meaningful RW examples with an even wider circle of friends through social media.
Just as a single yawn can cause a whole group to start yawning, these examples can ripple through your entire personal network, inspiring your family, friends and coworkers to imitate and spread the transforming power that God has lavished on us through Jesus and his gospel.
“Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).

Reflection Questions
- Think of all the things you watch, read and listen to every day. How many of these things remind you of the love of Christ and inspire you to model his love, kindness and compassion to other people?
- Children and teens are bombarded every day with media that encourages silliness, selfishness, sensuality and sin. How might the future of the children and teens in your life be changed if you gave them daily examples of self-control, sacrificial service and Christ-like love?
- What are some of the other networks in your life? How might some of those people be changed by seeing daily examples of selfless love and sacrificial and service?
