Overview
This program is designed to strengthen relational and conflict resolution skills by providing students with opportunities to apply the principles of relational wisdom in specially designed cases studies and real-life situations. When this program is launched in the fall of 2018, it will provide three focus areas:
- Certificate in Applied Relational Wisdom (Workplace Focus)
- Certificate in Applied Relational Wisdom (Church Leadership Focus)
- Certificate in Applied Relational Wisdom (Christian School Focus)
Certificate Requirements
- Foundational Course: Complete Discovering Relational Wisdom 2.0 online course
- Advanced Study: Read The Peacemaker (Sande), Leading Christians Through Conflict (Sande), and Emotional Intelligence 2.0 (Travis and Grieves) and write a 500-1000 word summary of each book.
- EI Assessment: Complete the assessment provided in Emotional Intelligence 2.0 and write a personal growth plan to strengthen your EI skills.
- World-Around-You Observations: Describe five examples that you observe in the news or people around you that illustrate either relational foolishness or relational wisdom (200-500 words each).
- Case Study Application: Apply RW/peacemaking principles to five cases studies in your selected focus area (1000-2000 words each).
- Personal Application: Apply RW/peacemaking principles with two people, in one case to improve an existing relationship and another to resolve an actual conflict in your life (1000-2000 word summaries).
- Assisting Application: Assist two other people in applying RW/peacemaking principles, in one case to improve an existing relationship and in the other to resolve an actual conflict in that person’s life (1000-2000 word summaries).
- Values-Based Application: Use the Values-based (secular) version of relational wisdom as a bridge to share the gospel with two people who do not yet trust in Christ.
Note: this training is still under development and pilot testing, so some of the requirements may be modified before the training is formally released.
