Law students love to flex their growing adversarial skills.
Which is why I chose a state law school to test our newest training materials on relational wisdom and peacemaking. If I could survive the cross examination of the forty students sitting before me, I could teach this material in any secular setting.
Although I prepared carefully to fend off their challenges, I was still caught off guard. Not by cold skepticism or overt hostility, but by an astonishing level of affirmation and keen interest in the principles and skills I presented.
It was one of the warmest and most engaging audiences I have ever known.
What did I teach? On the surface, it was secular professional training on emotional intelligence and conflict resolution, skills that would not only strengthen their legal careers but also improve their ability to build stable marriages and be good parents.
But all this content was grounded in a Christian worldview, and embedded in the handouts were links to five presentations of the gospel of Christ.
This seminar sparked an explosion of interest in our new Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) training. Next came seminars for several law firms, then county and state bar associations, and a major legal conference in Washington, D.C.
Then seminars around the country: an accounting firm, a chain of auto service shops, an engineering company, a hotel, a military base, a construction company, a commercial cleaning company, faculty and students at a state university, and two city councils.
In every case, people received practical training on developing relational skills that can improve job performance and family stability. More importantly, they received material that explains how to find eternal life through Jesus.
To remove financial barriers, our instructors offer these 1-hour seminars for free, and every student walks away with a free scholarship to our 8-hour online course on relational wisdom, where they will encounter another explanation of the gospel.
Although these seminars are free, we have to cover the delivery costs. We also need financial support to train instructors around the country so that we can serve the growing number of businesses, schools, hospitals, military bases, government offices, college campuses and other secular venues that are requesting this training.
“The fields are white for harvest,” as Jesus once said, and we are eager to see our resources being used by dozens of PACE Instructors in hundreds of these fields to improve relational skills and, far more importantly, to draw people to Christ.
But we need your help to do so. Would you please make a generous donation today to help us expand this training and continue other gospel ministries in the coming year?
